Welcome — we’re glad you’re here. Pick Sense from Nonsense (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a small project built on the sayings passed down across the Caribbean, and these Terms of Service (“Terms”) simply spell out how that works in practice. They govern your use of this website and the calendars, books, prints, subscriptions and related products and services we offer (together, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
Pick Sense from Nonsense is a brand operated by Griot Link Inc., a company located in Barbados. You can reach us at support@picksensefromnonsense.com.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. Some features — including unlocking the meaning of a saying — require you to sign in with your email address. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts that are misused.
3. Content & intellectual property
The sayings, meanings, written text, design, logos and compilation that make up the Service are owned by us or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws. The original artwork featured in each edition is owned by the artists who created it and is licensed to us; it remains their property.
You may view and enjoy this content for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, resell, republish or create derivative works from the sayings, text or artwork without our prior written permission (and, for artwork, the artist’s).
4. Purchases, prints & payment
- Prices, availability and product descriptions may change at any time.
- Orders are confirmed only once payment is received and we send a confirmation.
- Art prints sold through the Service feature work licensed from our partner artists; buying a print does not transfer any copyright or reproduction rights in the artwork.
- Taxes, shipping and any customs duties are your responsibility unless stated otherwise at checkout.
5. Shipping, returns & refunds
Shipping times are estimates. Our returns and refunds approach is set out in our Refund Policy and Shipping Policy.
6. Subscriptions
If you subscribe to the monthly Caribbean saying newsletter, you agree to receive those emails and can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, scraping or harvesting content, interfering with its operation, or using it for any unlawful purpose.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle the email address and other information you provide.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” The sayings and their meanings are shared for cultural and educational enjoyment and reflect folk wisdom, not professional advice. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted here, and the “Last updated” date will reflect the revision. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Barbados, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of Barbados, unless your local law requires otherwise.
